Diggin It ran a competition with the pupils from Stuart Road Primary to design a school zone garden to be used by visiting schools and young people from across the city. Fantastic designs were submitted from years one through to six. The quality of the designs entered was so high it was very difficult to choose a winner but it was the talented Ellie Pope from year 3 who will get to see her design brought to life.
The children from Stuart Road came up on the 26th June to finally discover who won the challenge that Diggin It set.
A big thankyou to Plymouth City Council who donated the materials for the classroom.
The design had been carefully thought about and incorporated all the elements for a beautiful practical garden. In this new school zone there are now benches, separate areas for vegetable, fruit and flower cultivation, a picnic area, a wild patch for bug searches, an area for sowing seeds. Ellie has even thought about what materials to use on the paths. The design also has a central arbour with cordoned apples growing over.
